Squishies, otherwise known as pencil toppers come in a huge variety of different shapes and colors. They are all animals of one sort or another. Aside from being a cute topper for a pencil, they have become a trading commodity among kids.
The most popular type of squishy is the Seamania set. The animals in this set are an octopus, a seahorse, a whale, a clownfish, a dolphin, a clam, a blowfish, a walrus, a lobster, and a crab. All of these come in both the original version and a rare version. The rares of course are harder to find and much more valuable. Rares have a slightly different color variation than the originals.
Other squishy sets include zoomania, and junglemania. These sets obviously feature animals that would either be found in a zoo or a jungle. Some examples of these two sets are a cow, penguin, and elephant as well as a parrot, hippo, and koala. As the seamania sets above, these sets include both original and rare versions. There are a total of twenty different types of animals in these two sets alone.
Of the squishy sets mentioned above, only the seamania and zoomania sets feature a glow in the dark version. They are more translucent looking creatures that of course glow in the dark. Like the rares, they are very difficult to get a hold of and quite valuable for collectors.
Many kids buy squishies from vending machines at various restaurants or movie rental stores. They cost between twenty-five and fifty cents each. It is purely up to chance of what squishy they will end up getting - just like you don't know what color gumball you will get from a gumball machine.
